Team Notes

Clemson – Losses to Georgia Tech and Duke move Clemson from a #5 seed to a #9 seed this week.  Although the Tigers have a decent SOS (#60) and are 6-3 in Road/Neutral games, they are only 1-4 against RPI 1-50 teams

CAA Teams – Old Dominion is in today’s bracket as the automatic bid for the CAA.  With 4 teams (ODU, William & Mary, VCU, Northeastern) battling for league supremecy, it appears unlikely that one will emerge with a strong at-large profile.

Northwestern – The Wildcats have only 1 RPI top 50 win (Purdue).  The next 2 games (@Minnesota, @Michigan St) could make or break their season.

Connecticut – The Huskies are 13-6 against the nation’s toughest schedule.  They should be in the field barring a complete collapse after their big win against Texas.  The 1-5 Road/Neutral record is hurting their profile, however.

Dayton – The Flyers are just outside the bracket today after their first bad loss of the season, against St Joes.  3 of the next 4 games are home games against RPI top 50 opponents (Rhode Island, Xavier, Charlotte).

St Johns – The Red Storm fall out of the bracket after losses to Connecticut and Villanova.  They will need impressive wins and road victories to make the tourney, and the next game (@Pitt) could provide both.

Ohio State – The Buckeyes’ 1-5 Road record is holding down their seeding.  That record should improve as they still have road trips to Iowa, Indiana, and Penn State in front of them.

Texas Tech – The highest rated RPI team not in today’s bracket, the Red Raiders do not have a top 50 RPI win this season.  History has shown that the tournament selection committee will not put teams in the bracket without a signature victory.

North Carolina – The Tar Heels are 0-4 in Road games, and only 2-6 against RPI top 50 teams.
