Hello, Tennessee’s RPI is at 77, the highest RPI to ever make the at-large field is 74. The highest in the last ten years is 68 in 2002. RPI is a great barometer on at-large teams that make the field and the selection committee no longer looks at the last ten games but of all the games and Tennessee has some really bad loses. Why is Tennessee in?

I realize that Tennessee’s RPI ranking is terrible (I have it at 75), but the at-large field is 3 teams larger since last year, so there is a greater potential for that record to be broken. Tennessee’s good wins are really good (Florida twice and Vanderbilt) and they finished tied for second in their conference. Their bad losses are pretty bad, but the committee has not penalized teams as badly in recent years for really bad losses.
